New accessible technologies to be introduced for the first time to serve 50 million People with Disabilities in the Arab region

Dubai – United Arab Emirates, 14 November 2022: More than 4,500 technologies designed for people with motor, visual, hearing, intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum, and playing a crucial role in empowering them is going up for public display. The World Health Organization estimates the number of this segment of  about one billion people around the world at the present time, is expected to rise to 2 billion people in the year 2050 as a result of advancing age, wars, ill health, poverty, lack of services and other reasons.

The AccessAbilities Expo, the largest event of its kind in the region, reinforces its importance as an ideal international platform to showcase the most advanced technologies under one roof to serve this broad segment that aspires to use modern technology to improve their lives.

The Expo takes place between 15 and 17 November at the Dubai World Trade Centre. It  comes after a two-year hiatus as a result of the pandemic  and largely due to the willingness of local and international exhibitors to meet again under one roof to present their initiatives, plans and technologies to improve the quality of life for People of Determination.

International companies and rehabilitation centres will participate in the exhibition, some of which will display the most advanced technologies for the first time in the Middle East, to enable people of determination in the field of visual, hearing, motor and mental disabilities, rehabilitation, in addition to the autism spectrum, to live with greater independence.

AccessAbilities Expo is supported by the UAE Ministry of Community Development, Dubai Community Development, Dubai Police, Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai Municipality, Dubai Health Authority, Dubai Customs, Dubai Ambulance, Nakheel, Sanad Village, AW Rostamani, Meta, Zayed Higher Organization, Dubai Club for People of Determination and HSBC as strategic partners and sponsors in addition to Clemenceau Medical Center Hospital as  healthcare partner and Du as telecom partner.

The exhibition is held annually in Dubai under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports and Chairman of Emirates Airline and Group, within the framework of the distinguished efforts made by government and private agencies in the UAE to empower People of Determination and provide them with the opportunity to contribute their role in shaping the country’s future over the next 50 years.

Nadd Al Shiba PR & Event Management, the event organisers,  expects that the number of companies and centres participating in the exhibition from government and private agencies will reach 250 exhibitors from 50 countries, and that will attract more than 10,000 international visitors.

Ghassan Suleiman Amhaz, Managing Director of the exhibition, said: “Technology makes the world easier and contributes to removing many obstacles for people of determination. Hence, the exhibition establishes its presence as a global platform for the best technologies needed by more than one billion people – 50 million of whom live in the Middle East. In their homes and workplaces, while receiving health care in rehabilitation centers and hospitals, and transporting them between airports, carriers, modes of transportation, hotels and tourist destinations. This is in addition to the absolute importance represented by means of communication, communication, various applications, information technology and robotics to improve living and working standards for them.”

He added, “We are working for this exhibition to reflect the exceptional interest exerted by the UAE and the rest of the region in providing a decent life for this dear segment of our society, enabling them to live independently and working to attract the finest technologies that play a decisive role in making their lives better.”
