Dubai, UAE, December 16, 2024: The global airport industry is poised for an exceptional year, with revenues projected to reach $194.4 billion in 2024. According to the Airports Council International (ACI) World, global passenger traffic is forecasted to grow by 10%, reaching 9.5 billion passengers in 2024, up from 8.7 billion in 2023. This growth marks a near-recovery to pre-pandemic levels, with international traffic contributing 43% and domestic traffic making up 57%. By 2040, global airport investments are expected to hit $2.4 trillion, while Middle Eastern airports will allocate $151 billion to expand capacity and enhance passenger and cargo facilities.

The 24th edition of the Airport Show, set to take place from May 6–8, 2025, at the Dubai World Trade Centre, will showcase cutting-edge technologies aimed at addressing rising air traffic demands. Geneva-based SITA predicts that the demographic shift in air travel will revolutionize passenger solutions strategies starting in 2025. 83% of IT leaders from airports and airlines see automation and digitization as pivotal for managing rising passenger volumes. Similarly, the Beumer Group emphasized the need for innovative solutions to streamline bottlenecks like security checks and ensure seamless travel experiences.
