DWTC Launches Phase 1 of AED10 Billion Dubai Exhibition Centre Expansion

Dubai, UAE, 13 November 2024: Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) has begun Phase 1 of the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC) expansion at Expo City Dubai, with core contracts in place and construction underway. The AED10 billion expansion, endorsed by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, aims to make DEC the region’s largest indoor events venue, doubling annual mega-event capacity from 300 to over 600 by 2033.

Phase 1, spanning 140,000 square meters, is scheduled for completion by Q1 2026. It will include 64,000 square meters of permanent and 30,000 square meters of temporary exhibition space, supported by sustainable design and advanced digital infrastructure. This expansion aligns with Dubai’s 2040 Urban Master Plan, solidifying the city as a premier MICE destination.

DWTC executives highlight this milestone as a transformative step in Dubai’s MICE growth, poised to triple the industry’s economic impact to AED54 billion annually by 2033.
