Empower Showcases the World’s Largest District Cooling Project at WETEX 2024

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, October 2024: His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, commended the 2024 achievements of Empower, the world’s largest provider of district cooling services, during the inauguration of the 26th Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2024). The event, organized by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, opened today at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

During his tour of Empower’s booth, His Highness, accompanied by H.E. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, was introduced to Empower’s groundbreaking district cooling project in Business Bay, which holds the Guinness World Record for the highest capacity district cooling plant. H.E. Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, provided insights into the project, which has a cooling capacity of 451,540 refrigeration tons (RT). The project consists of nine plants, with four currently operational, serving 188 buildings through a 52.4 km pipeline network. Bin Shafar also highlighted Empower’s major accomplishments and global recognitions in 2024.

“WETEX has established itself as a premier event in the water, energy, technology, and environment sectors,” stated Bin Shafar. He emphasized that WETEX 2024 offers a platform for fostering collaboration, facilitating technological advancements, and enabling strategic partnerships between investors, decision-makers, and global institutions.

Bin Shafar further noted the rising demand for district cooling services, driven by the need for sustainable solutions and advanced technologies that reduce operational costs. He stressed that companies are increasingly focused on contributing to environmental preservation and reducing carbon emissions at both local and global levels.
