Dubai, UAE, 9 November 2024 – The World Green Economy Organization (WGEO) has revealed the key themes and agenda for its participation in the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29), set to take place from 11 to 22 November 2024 in Baku, Azerbaijan. WGEO’s involvement at COP29 will center around its pavilion in the Blue Zone (C 12), which is dedicated to high-level discussions on climate issues, capacity-building, and fostering international partnerships.
At COP29, WGEO plans to engage more than 150 stakeholders from various sectors through over 45 thematic sessions and workshops. These sessions will cover pressing topics essential to advancing the global green economy, aligned with COP29’s primary themes of enhancing ambition, enabling climate action, and delivering inclusive climate solutions. The organization is focusing on a range of issues critical to the green economy transition, including global leadership, collaborative climate action, sustainable finance, clean energy solutions, and innovation.
In addition to thematic sessions, WGEO will host a high-level ministerial panel, exploring how green transitions are pivotal to driving effective climate action. Ministers and leading experts from around the world will participate in these discussions, which aim to shed light on practical solutions for green growth and climate resilience.
The Global Alliance on Green Economy (GAGE), under WGEO’s guidance, will hold its Second Quarterly Focal Points’ Meeting during the event, focusing on international climate projects and green finance initiatives. WGEO will also offer capacity-building training on Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, designed to empower participants to contribute more effectively to their countries’ climate commitments.
Abdulrahim Sultan, Director General of WGEO, underscored the organization’s commitment to advancing the green economy transition globally: “Through our activities at COP29, WGEO aims to empower nations and institutions to implement real climate solutions. Our pavilion will be a hub for dynamic discussions, where we will strengthen collaborations, drive innovation, and push the green economy agenda forward.”
WGEO’s pavilion will also serve as a space for bilateral meetings and discussions with heads of state, ministers, and global organizations, further solidifying its leadership role in the global green economy movement.
