SSMC receives high recognition for excellence in healthcare safety and innovation in the Middle East.
Abu Dhabi, UAE, 4 November 2024: Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC), a subsidiary of PureHealth and one of the largest hospitals in the UAE for complex medical care, announced it has been honoured with multiple awards from the Arab Hospitals Federation (AHF) for its achievements in healthcare safety, digital transformation, and sustainability across five categories.
With a demonstrated commitment to patient and staff safety, technological advancement, and teamwork, SSMC received high praise, securing platinum and diamond accolades in each category, based on comprehensive assessments by the AHF Jury Committee.
The awards include:
- Platinum Award – Safest Hospital for Patients Certificate: SSMC met stringent safety criteria, including adverse reaction management, critical safety KPIs, risk management protocols, and comprehensive training programs to uphold its commitment to patient well-being.
- Diamond Award – Safety Through Digital Transformation: This award recognized SSMC’s innovative technology use to improve safety outcomes, with strong performance in data security, patient privacy, and digital safety metrics.
- Diamond Award – Safest Working Environment for Staff: SSMC was commended for its extensive mental and physical health support programs, injury prevention initiatives, and safety-focused improvements for staff well-being.
- Diamond Award – Sustainability in Safety Metrics: This accolade highlighted SSMC’s integration of sustainable practices, including infection control, waste reduction, energy efficiency, and green building, underscoring its role as a regional leader in combining safety and environmental responsibility.
- Platinum Award – Best Hospital Safety Teams: Recognized for its effective inter-departmental collaboration, this award celebrates SSMC’s culture of accountability, best practices, and innovative solutions that prioritize patient-centered care.
