King Faisal Hospital CEO: “Robotic Surgery in All Operating Rooms Is Our Next Milestone”

Dr. Majid Al Fayyad, CEO of King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center (KFSHRC), revealed plans to make robotic surgery the standard across all operating rooms, following the hospital’s historic achievement of the first-ever fully robotic heart transplant. The initiative aims to position robotic surgery as the preferred option for future medical procedures.

Speaking at a panel on healthcare innovation during the Global Health Exhibition (GHE) in Riyadh, Al Fayyad underscored the hospital’s commitment to advancing surgical practices. “This milestone is the result of meticulous preparation, where we equipped our facilities with state-of-the-art technology and provided rigorous training for our medical teams,” he said, emphasizing that patient safety remains at the core of these advancements.

Al Fayyad added that KFSHRC is integrating artificial intelligence into its medical procedures to enhance precision and efficiency, promising to push the boundaries of innovation to new heights. “Our goal is to set new benchmarks in healthcare and share our knowledge on a global stage,” he stated.

The hospital has earned significant recognition, ranking first in the Middle East and Africa and 20th worldwide among the top 250 academic healthcare institutions for the second consecutive year. It also secured the title of the most valuable healthcare brand in the Middle East, as noted by Brand Finance for 2024, and has been named among the world’s leading smart hospitals for 2025 by Newsweek.
