AgraME 2024: Paving the Future of Regenerative Agriculture and Food Security in the Middle East

Dubai, UAE – 8th October 2024: AgraME 2024, held under the patronage of the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, has become a landmark event in agricultural innovation. The exhibition, which opened on October 8th at the Dubai World Trade Centre, gathers more than 150 exhibitors and 6,000 decision-makers from 180 countries. The event focuses on sustainable farming, regenerative agriculture, aquaculture, and ag-tech solutions aimed at addressing the UAE’s unique environmental challenges such as water scarcity, desertification, and food security.

At the heart of the event is the “Plant the Emirates” initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, aimed at integrating agriculture into homes, schools, and businesses across the UAE. The initiative is designed to strengthen the country’s food security system and promote sustainable practices by empowering farmers, fostering public-private partnerships, and encouraging the adoption of innovative agricultural techniques.

His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Salman Al Hammadi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Food Diversity Sector, highlighted the initiative’s importance during his opening speech. He emphasized that this step not only addresses the growing need for sustainability in agriculture but also supports the UAE’s vision for long-term food security and resilience in the sector.

The conference also saw engaging discussions on regenerative agriculture technology, featuring keynotes and panel sessions focused on soil restoration, carbon sequestration, and water-efficient farming. The Regenerative Agriculture Middle East Conference attracted prominent industry leaders, who deliberated over the future of sustainable farming practices and how they can be adapted to the Middle East’s climatic conditions.

In addition to the discussions on agriculture, the event showcased cutting-edge technological solutions. Eng. Ohoud Abdulla Mohamed Al Ali from Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) introduced drone technology for farm inspections, demonstrating how AI-powered tools could optimize agricultural sustainability and compliance monitoring.

The event also brought international perspectives, including a presentation by Anthony Yandell, Group Sales Manager at Balco Australia, who emphasized the importance of the UAE market in the oaten hay industry and the role of agricultural advancements in fostering sustainable practices.

AgraME 2024 not only marks a significant step toward a more resilient agricultural future but also reaffirms the UAE’s role as a leader in the global agricultural sector. The next edition in 2025 promises an even broader scope with more regional and international participants, showcasing advancements across sustainable farming, aquaculture, smart irrigation, and more.
