AccessAbilities Expo 2024: Largest Exhibition for People of Determination Kicks Off in Dubai on October 7

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, October 30, 2024: AccessAbilities Expo (AAE), now in its sixth edition, is set to take place from October 7 to 9 at the Dubai World Trade Centre (Halls 6, 7 & 8). This significant event is recognized as the largest exhibition of its kind in the Middle East, dedicated to the empowerment and care of People of Determination. The expo will feature approximately 250 exhibitors and rehabilitation centers from 50 countries, serving over 50 million individuals with disabilities in the region eager to access the latest assistive technologies and best practices in rehabilitation and healthcare.

The rapid advancement of technology has made a remarkable impact on the lives of around 1.3 billion People with Disabilities globally, enhancing their quality of life and promoting independence. Significant improvements in assistive technologies, telemedicine, accessible infrastructure, and other essential services have paved the way for greater accessibility and inclusivity.

UAE’s Commitment to Empowering People of Determination

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Patron of the AAE, emphasized the importance of this year’s participation, stating, “The broad participation in AccessAbilities Expo 2024 represents a valuable opportunity to connect the People of Determination community with international exhibitors and specialists. This event fosters mutual benefits, enhancing Dubai and the UAE’s reputation as a global hub for assistive technologies.” He also highlighted the UAE’s significant strides in legislation, policies, and programs aimed at integrating People of Determination into society and ensuring equal opportunities.

Workshops and Conferences for Enhanced Accessibility

AccessAbilities Expo 2024 will host numerous workshops, activities, and conferences designed to raise awareness about best practices for supporting children with autism during travel. One of the key events includes a workshop by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) on “Innovations in Air Travel Accessibility.” This workshop will outline the newest standards and procedures adopted by member airlines to enhance accessible travel for People with Disabilities.

Additionally, the expo will feature a Youth Circle, organized by the Dubai Youth Council, discussing “Accessible Tourism.” This session will involve senior officials from public and private entities, focusing on Dubai’s initiatives to become a leading tourist destination for People with Disabilities.

A first-of-its-kind conference on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) in the UAE will also be held, showcasing global best practices in the field. Other discussions will focus on inclusive education, rehabilitation, and healthcare.

Innovative Technologies Enhancing Quality of Life

Ghassan Suleiman, CEO of AAE, stated, “New technologies are crucial in improving the quality of life for People with Disabilities, enabling them to participate in economic, social, and sports activities. The Expo has consistently showcased cutting-edge technologies that significantly benefit millions of individuals with disabilities.”

Featured technologies include motorized wheelchairs, eye-tracking systems, 3D-printed prosthetics, adaptive keyboards, AI-powered smart canes, smart glasses, and personal emergency response systems. The healthcare and rehabilitation technology sector has undergone a massive revolution, reshaping the future of accessibility and inclusivity.
