Umm Al Quwain, December 13, 2022: Her Excellency Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, Minister of Community Development, participated in the sixth leg of the (Clean UAE) campaign in Umm Al Quwain, organised by the Emirates Environmental Group, within the framework of the national volunteer campaign that was launched to coincide with the International Volunteer Day (December 5, 2022) under the auspices of the Ministry of Climate change and the environment, in cooperation with the Ministry of Community Development.
The campaign has covered 6 stations nationwide so far, as it has moved between the emirates of Ajman, Sharjah, Fujairah, Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah, until it reached Umm Al Quwain on Tuesday, December 13, to land on Al Mualla Street / Al Sayyadin Beach, with the participation of 276 people representing public and private sector institutions, including school students.
Her Excellency Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid appreciated the efforts of the volunteers participating in the campaign, and employees from the public and private sectors, and the importance of their role in achieving success in the national development goals related to the campaign, as it seeks to highlight the beauty of touristic destinations in the UAE.
Mrs. Habiba Al Mar’ashi, Co-founder and Chairperson of EEG quoted “As I address all of you standing here before me, I see no age, ethnic origin, background, social standing or position, all I see is a unified gathering of wonderful people who care about the environment and who are keen to make a genuine difference.”
She added “We have through this campaign proven to the world that we, the UAE society have a strong sense of belonging, responsibility and patriotism to this beautiful country. We also realise that it is our duty to maintain and ensure its well-being.”
She also appreciated the volunteerism of the participants who collected 2,532 kg of waste by cleaning a stretch of 2 km2. The waste materials collected at the site were further segregated and sent to local factories for proper recycling.
