Dubai, Business News: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organised its 19th Internal Health and Safety Week. This is part of DEWA’s efforts to promote occupational health and safety among employees, customers, and partners. The Internal Health and Safety Week featured various activities such as awareness lectures, physical and virtual activities, and interactive competitions on occupational health and safety issues. It also introduced the latest fire protection technologies and health and safety measures in the utilities sector.
“DEWA organises the Health and Safety Week annually to promote health and safety standards in all its projects and operations as well as make DEWA’s employees aware of the latest systems, developments and best practices in occupational health and safety. This helps provide a healthy and safe work environment according to the highest excellence and quality standards in line with our Integrated Administrative Systems Policy. This is our commitment to the effective implementation of quality, health, safety and environmental management systems. This helps us provide electricity and water services to the highest standards of availability, reliability, efficiency, and quality, while implementing the best health and safety standards as well as sustainability of resources. The public’s commitment to preventative measures and adhering to health and safety requirements set out by the UAE authorities, having contributed to it being one of the first countries to recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. I encourage everyone to continue to adhere to all the necessary measures to continue the journey towards recovery and fully return to normal everyday life,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

Dr Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources said that DEWA has trained and qualified professionals on occupational health and safety and environment according to the highest international standards. He noted that DEWA organises several activities and events in health and safety every year for employees and contractors to advance the work environment and enhance awareness of health and safety standards as well as social activities to raise awareness on health, safety and the environment measures.
The Internal Health and Safety Week featured awareness lectures in English, Arabic, Hindi, and Urdu, on occupational health and safety for staff and stakeholders, online competitions and offline competitions in a number of branches and DEWA’s Campus for Occupational and Academic Development.
