On the occasion of the closing day of the “Cities” fortnight at the Dubai World Expo, Paris Region, sponsor of the French pavilion, has been in the spotlight on November 12 and is organizing, under the coordination of Choose Paris Region and Visit Paris Region, a seminar entitled “Attractiveness of the Paris Region”, which was focus on the Region’s two main areas of attraction, namely economic and tourism attraction.
Europe’s leading economic region
With 12 million inhabitants and a GDP of €730 billion, Paris Region enjoys a leading economic position in Europe. It has more than 500,000 companies, 29 Fortune Global companies, 500 headquarters and 150,000 researchers, making it one of the most competitive regions in terms of research and development, innovation and entrepreneurship.
Paris Region was named “European City and Region of the Future” by the Financial Times FDI Intelligence Review for the foreign direct investment it receives.
The Region’s attractiveness is particularly boosted by the hosting of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris in 2024 and by the Grand Paris Express project, which involves the construction of 200 km of new metro lines and 68 new stations and surrounding districts.
A long-term, strong recovery:
In response to the health crisis, Paris Region has implemented the most ambitious and largest recovery plan in the country. 14 billion are intended to be invested to support the sectors most affected by the crisis, in three priority areas: ecological transition, support for the economy and the promotion of social cohesion. Driven by technological innovation and new consumption patterns, sectors such as new mobility, renewable energies, digital services, e- commerce and digital health are booming. This dynamism offers very promising business opportunities to local and international companies.
Indeed, the recovery has been very strong, despite the episode marked by the health crisis, investors’ view of the capital region has continued its positive progression over the past several years. Indeed, Paris Region is increasingly positioning itself as a hub for companies from all over the world, particularly the Middle East, Asia and North America, to enter Europe
and Africa. A trend that we are already seeing in current investments. This context of sustained recovery is also marked by a shared desire on the part of all public and private players to build a sustainable model for Paris Region as a low-carbon, responsible metropolis offering an unrivalled quality of life to its inhabitants. Sustainable development, energy and ecological transition, environmental and social impact, innovation, the use of digital tools, and public- private partnerships will all be addressed during this journey.
